Birth itself can start distortion patterns in the body. According to the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, under normal child birth, 99% of infants had “dysfunction of the cranial (head), cervical (neck), lumbar (low back) and sacral (pelvis) region.” C-sections and vacuum extractions only make it worse. Again from that publication by the Osteopaths, •“The primary mechanism of injury to the spinal cord appears to be excessive traction applied to the spinal canal and cord during the birth process.”This is the beginning of what will be come a person's distortion pattern in their body.
Another study was done in the Journal of Manual Medicine. It found that the birth process can result in trauma to "suboccipital structures," which is the base of the cranium and neck. This results in abnormal motor development and a "reduced capacity to absorb additional stress later." The authors go on to say that children may only show minor symptoms early on but develop major issues later on such as headaches, poor posture, or "diffuse symptoms such as sleep disorders, being unable to concentrate etc."
All of this can be treated before it happens by someone who is trained to assess the spine and most importantly the cranium when the child is born to detect any problems which may have developed during the birth process. Simple, gentle corrections can then be made to the spine and cranium to undo the birth trauma and restore proper structure and function. As a Certified Craniopath, I possess advanced skills in treating cranial disortions with hundreds of house of post graduate study and thouands of hours of practice in addition to passing one of the most rigerous exams in the chiropractic profession. This is a level of certification held by a little over a hundred people in the United States.
Additionally, my education in school at Life University included pediatrics which is the only school that requires pediatrics. While there I took seminars on pediatrics, especially focused on cranial distortion patterns. My post graduate training includes completion of Pediatric Certification Program develped by Dr. Martin Rosen which is an additional course of study focused exclusively on the diagnosis and treatment children starting before birth, with infants and through adulthood.
Pediatrics presents the ideal time to start chiropractic care. What baby needs chiropractic care? Any of them that have a spine.
